About the Artist

I seek in paint to capture the awe the natural world inspires in me. I am drawn to landscapes and waterscapes that move me with their beauty, and I often strive to recreate the feeling a scene leaves me with upon reflection.

For instance, a dingy on Sheepscot Bay – small and sturdy, yet ever vulnerable, the dingy rests peacefully on a calm edge of the vast and tempestuous Atlantic, the rising sun painting the scene in a pink, peaceful splendor.

Each season has its own light, and each gifts a unique color palette to every region and locality. The sun is never still, yet in my work I aim to pause time for just a moment to draw out the subtlety of the light as it sheers over the land, striking the highlights and dodging shadows as it blends with atmosphere to generate a cascade of colors unique to each time and place.

With endless compositions to be found and every moment captured by miracle, my life’s work is set out for me. I studied painting at Parson’s School of Design as a young man, and after a career in business I’m returning to the roots of my first love in oil painting.

I reside in picturesque Oneonta NY, and find my inspiration in the foothills of the Catskill Mountains, along the coasts of Maine, and everywhere else my adventures take me.

I hope you enjoy viewing my work as much as I do creating it. If you’d like to connect, please use the contact section of the site to message me.
